Social Media Marketing Trends for 2020
- The digital detox
There are now 3.484 billion social media users across the globe, which is a 9% increase compared to last year.
More people are now choosing to “detox” from social media, deleting apps and profiles in order to step away from it. We see in terms of people choosing to use one platform less in favour of another, such as Facebook seeing users decline but Instagram attracting more.
- Social media influencers and word-of-mouth marketing
One benefit of building social media communities is the fact that they help with word-of-mouth marketing, which is another big social media marketing trend for 2020. Communities allow you to engage with nano or micro-influencers who are already advocates of your brand in order to get them to share honest views and experiences of your products or services. Influencers have been around for a while and they have now become an expected part of the social media experience. They can offer great benefits for brands, including a relatively high earned media value, especially now that Instagram usage is continuing to grow at an elevated rate.
- The rise of alternative platforms
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram tend to be the core platforms used by B2C brands, with LinkedIn also being vital for B2B companies. However, many users are growing.
While Twitter has seen growth so far this year, its active user numbers have declined from it’s all-time 2017 high. Similarly, Facebook has seen a huge drop in users. Combined with the increasing pay-to-play format of social media channels, this means that brands aren’t seeing the results on these platforms that they previously did.

Combined with the increasing pay-to-play format of social media channels, this means that brands aren’t seeing the results on these platforms that they previously did.
One social media platform that is becoming a go-to, especially for younger generations, is TikTok. While the app was launched in 2016, its popularity has grown fairly recently, with 2019 seeing a huge number of users flock to the platform. It now has around 500 million monthly active users worldwide and registered more than 1.1 billion installs as of March 2019.
- Social media as customer service
Customer service is always going to be a vital aspect of providing a good customer experience, in the digital age, the customer service you offer is a lot more visible to everyone online. As well as online customer reviews, customer complaints and issues are easier to find than ever before due to the fact that a lot of them are shared on social media. Over a quarter (28%) of consumers have used social media to communicate with a company in the last year.
- Telling Stories on social
Brands are also advertising more via Stories, with 45% of Instagram ad spend being on Stories, suggesting that brands are seeing better results with the more direct format being offered by Stories.
“If you regularly use social media, it will not come as a surprise that Instagram Stories’ popularity will further increase in 2020. Battenhall conducted research that found that 98% of Instagram accounts use Stories, while 400 million users watch Instagram Stories on a daily basis.
“It appears that big brands are favouring Instagram Stories for their advertising and marketing, in fact, one in three of the most-viewed Stories are from businesses. However, the question is why are they so popular?
- Instagram Stories are more authentic than traditional Instagram posts that allow for heavy editing and altering.
- The content is only available for 24hrs, therefore, it is current and will not become outdated.
- Consumers want live updates and real-time content. Instagram Stories are normally the most up-to-date content a business can offer a consumer.
- Through Instagram Stories, you can share other people’s Instagram posts. This function allows people to connect easily with other accounts and businesses.

SOCIAL MEDIA TRENDS II
Taking the information of the entrance above in to account, we consider that we must use social media and to promote it, we are thinking to do:
- We will post videos on our social networks about our concerts.
- We have an online shop in our webpage. There, our listeners can buy tickets for our different concerts.
- We can put a stand with virtual glasses to enjoy our concerts, even if they haven't gonne to them, in different places where our music is put or where they sell our artist's CDs.
- We can make stories in our differnt concerts and while we are on the radio post to let our followers know how we work and what we make.
- We will try to make alliances with the artits acting in our concerts and tell them to promote our company speaking about it in their social networks.
- We can promote our music as music to do sport. In relation with the marketing action mentioned before, we can contact with fit influencers to promote our music.

Social Media Trends
1- In my opinion Instagram is the most important mega-trends because is visual, so it
is much easier to capture consumer attention with a striking image
instead of overwhelming amounts of text.
Thanks to this, the network has added more than 800 million users.
Instagram is an essential element to obtain an adequate online presence.
2- A megatrend is a shift in behaviour or attitude that has global impact and crosses
multiple industries. In a rapidly changing global environment, megatrend
analysis is critical for companies seeking to drive sustainable growth and remain
relevant as competition increases and new ideas disrupt entire industries.

Crowd-sourcing moves
into the mainstream:In the past few years, the ability to organize
communities of Web participants to develop, market, and support products and
services has moved from the margins of business practice to the mainstream.
P&G created a social network of influential mothers (Vocalpoint) to drive
word-of-mouth marketing. In markets where Vocalpoint influencers are active,
product revenues have doubled.Facebook has marshaled its community for product
development, recruiting 300,000 users to translate its site into 70 language.
The entire French Facebook site was translated in one day.
Making the network
the organization :Companies are pushing substantially beyond crowdsourcing
to build and manage flexible employee networks that extend across internal and
external borders. The recession underscored the value of such flexibility in
managing volatility.
Experimentation and big data: Data are flooding in
at rates never seen before — doubling every 18 months— as a result of greater
access to customer data from public, proprietary, and purchased sources, as
well as new information gathered from the social web and these newly-deployed
smart assets. These trends are broadly known as “big data.” Companies are
taking data use to new levels, using IT to support rigorous, constant business
experimentation that guides decisions and to test new products, business
models, and innovations in customer experience. This trend has the potential to
drive a radical transformation in research, innovation, and marketing.
Wiring for a sustainable
world : Information technology’s share of the world’s environmental
footprint is growing because of the ever-increasing demand for IT capacity and
services. Electricity produced to power the world’s data centers generates
greenhouse gases on the scale of countries such as Argentina or the
Netherlands, and these emissions could increase fourfold by 2020. The use of IT
in areas such as smart power grids, efficient buildings, and better logistics
planning could eliminate five times the carbon emissions that the IT industry
produces.
The age of the multi-sided business model: Multi-sided
business models create value through interactions among multiple players rather
than traditional one-on-one transactions or information exchanges.Spiceworks
offers IT-management applications
Innovating from Third World countries: Disruptive
business models arise when technology combines with extreme market conditions,
such as customer demand for very low price points, poor infrastructure,
hard-to-access suppliers, and low cost curves for talent. In other words,
developing nations may be a wellspring of innovation. Some of these “extreme”
business models are spreading to traditional markets thereby creating new
global competitors.

Sustainable Goals
Our website is based on a topic which is getting more and more coverage in mainstream media, but we must also reach out to a larger following on Social Media sites.
We can use trending Social Media networks like Youtube and Instagram to promote our material principally through visual material. Our aim is to create an impact with powerful images.
The Age of Protest - GREENPEACE
On Instagram we are collaborating with the @theglobalgoals in order to promote our objectives.
The use of HASHTAGS on Instagram: The top two rated hashtags related to climate change are:
- #climate - 36%
- #climatechange - 18%
Through twitter we can promote our sustainable goals by reacting to news stories around the world and making examples of the important groups of people who must take action on this issue.
An example of this is a group of american students who "turn civil disobedience into viral social media campaigns". Read about them here:
SUNRISE MOVEMENT
It´s a good way to involve young people in the social media movement about climate change and through their use of popular apps like Tik Tok and memes, they are able to appeal to this section of society.
